General Questions

What is a U2ME™ Code?+
A U2ME™ Code is a smart QR code tag you attach to your valuable items — phones, laptops, luggage, keys, and more. When a finder scans the code, they can instantly contact you without ever seeing your personal information. It's your best shot at getting lost items back.
How does it work?+
It's three simple steps:
  • Get U2ME™ Codes — Order Labels or Badges (shipped to your door)
  • Attach them — Place codes on your phone, laptop, luggage, or anything valuable
  • Relax — If your item is ever found, the finder scans the code and the U2ME™ system immediately notifies you by email, text, and voice call
No app needed for the finder — they just point their phone camera at the code and a page opens instantly.
Do finders need to download an app?+
No — and that's one of the most important things about U2ME™. The finder simply scans the QR code with any smartphone camera (built into iPhone and Android). A web page opens immediately — no download, no account, no friction. This dramatically increases the chance that someone will actually use it to contact you.
Is my personal information safe?+
Absolutely. Your phone number, email address, and personal contact details are never shown to the finder. All communication is routed through U2ME's secure system. The finder only sees what you chose to display during setup (like a first name or item label) and any reward amount you set. Your privacy is protected at every step.
How long does my U2ME™ Code stay active?+
Every U2ME™ Code is active for 3 years from the date of purchase — and this is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. You own it for 3 years, no recurring fees. We'll send you a reminder before expiration so you can renew if you'd like and update your contact information at the same time.

What does the reward amount mean?+
You can optionally offer a cash reward (e.g., $50, $100, $500) to incentivize the finder. The reward amount is printed directly on your U2ME™ Code and displayed prominently on the "Found It" page when scanned. U2ME does not handle the reward payment — you arrange payment directly with the finder when you get your item back (via Venmo, CashApp, Zelle, or cash).
Do you offer bulk or corporate pricing?+
Yes! We offer bulk pricing starting at 100 units for businesses, hotels, rental fleets, airlines, and corporate IT departments. Whether you want to protect your own company assets or give co-branded U2ME™ Badges to your customers as a premium value-add, we have a tier for you. Learn more and request a custom quote →

Notifications & How the System Works

What happens the moment someone scans my code?+
The moment a finder scans your code, U2ME fires off a notification cascade immediately:
  • 📧 Email — sent to you and all registered contacts instantly
  • 📱 SMS — sent to you and all contacts (if SMS is enabled for your country)
  • 📞 Voice call — calls begin to your contacts during business hours (9 AM – 9 PM Eastern)
  • 📍 Approximate location — every notification includes where your item was found
The system doesn't just notify one person — it gives the finder up to 7 ways to reach someone: 3 methods to the owner (email, SMS, voice) + 2 methods to your primary contact (email, voice) + 2 methods to your backup contact (email, voice). The more contacts you register, the better your chances.
Will I know where my item was found?+
Yes. When a finder scans your code, U2ME automatically captures their approximate location and includes it in every notification — the voice call, text message, and email all tell you where your item was found.
📍 Example: Your voice call might say "Someone just found your phone near Washington, DC and wants to return it." Your text and email include the same location detail.
Location is determined using WiFi and cell tower signals at the time of the scan — similar to how maps apps work without GPS. Accuracy is typically within a neighborhood or city. It won't pinpoint an exact address, but it gives you a meaningful starting point to coordinate the return.
Will my contacts get spammed if the code is scanned multiple times?+
No. U2ME has a built-in 1-hour cooldown. After a code is scanned and notifications are sent, any additional scans within the next hour are suppressed — no duplicate blasts. The finder still sees a confirmation that the owner has been notified. After 1 hour, the system resets and will notify again if scanned.
Why might I not receive the voice call — and what should I do?+
Our voice calls come from (888) 323-0152. We recommend saving this number in your contacts as U2ME Property Recovery Service so you always recognize it when it matters most.

Some phone systems and services can interfere with incoming calls from our number:
  • Google Voice — May screen or intercept calls before they reach you
  • Microsoft Teams / Zoom Phone / RingCentral — Common in workplaces; VoIP systems may block or reroute calls
  • Vonage, Ooma, MagicJack, Grasshopper — Home and small business VoIP services with their own call handling
  • Carrier screening — AT&T Call Protect, T-Mobile Scam Shield, and Verizon Call Filter may flag calls from toll-free numbers
  • Robocall blocking apps — Nomorobo, Hiya, RoboKiller, and TrueCaller may intercept automated calls
💡 What to do: If you use any of these services, check your settings to allow calls from (888) 323-0152. Add it to your contacts or whitelist it in your call screening app.
Don't worry — U2ME is designed with redundancy. Even if a voice call doesn't connect, you'll still receive an email and text message simultaneously. The three-channel approach means you'll be notified even if one channel has trouble reaching you.
Can I change my contact information after ordering?+
Yes! Your contact information is stored securely in our system — it is never printed on the tag itself. This means you can update your phone number, email, or emergency contacts at any time without replacing your physical code. Contact us at support@getu2me.com to request an update.

Testing Your Code

Can I test my U2ME™ Code before I actually lose something?+
Absolutely — and we strongly encourage it! When your order ships, you'll receive a fulfillment email with a "Test My Code Now" button.
Look for the email with subject: 📦 "Your U2ME™ Order Has Shipped!" from orders@getu2me.com
Clicking the button triggers a real test notification sent only to you:
  • 📧 A test email notification
  • 📱 A test SMS (if you opted in during setup)
  • 📞 A voice call so you can hear exactly what it sounds like
Your emergency contacts are never notified during a test. It's completely private. You can test as many times as you like — the link never expires.
What's the difference between the test button and scanning the actual QR code?+
This is very important to understand:
  • Test button (in your email): Notifies only you. Emergency contacts are never alerted. Safe to use anytime.
  • Scanning the actual physical QR code: Triggers the full notification cascade — you AND all your emergency contacts are notified immediately.
⚠️ Always use the test button in your email for testing. Scanning your physical code is the real thing — it will notify your contacts.
I can't find my test email. What do I do?+
Check your spam or junk folder first — look for the subject line "📦 Your U2ME™ Order Has Shipped!" from orders@getu2me.com. If you still can't find it, email us at support@getu2me.com with your order number and we'll resend it right away.
I accidentally scanned my real code and my contacts were notified. What now?+
That's okay — your system worked exactly as designed! Just let your contacts know it was an accidental scan. For future testing, always use the "Test My Code Now" button in your original shipping email instead. And thanks to the 1-hour cooldown, a second accidental scan within that window won't trigger another round of notifications.

Does U2ME™ work outside the United States?+
Yes! U2ME™ is built for global use. Here's the breakdown by notification type:
  • 📧 Email: Works worldwide — no restrictions
  • 📱 SMS: Supported in 9 countries (see below)
  • 📞 Voice calls: Supported worldwide during 9 AM – 9 PM Eastern
SMS-supported countries: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Mexico, and Brazil.

U2ME™ Labels and Badges currently ship to the US and US Territories only. However, the recovery system itself works worldwide.
What language will the found page appear in?+
The found page defaults to English but has a 🌐 globe icon in the upper right that lets the finder instantly switch languages. Currently supported:
  • 🇺🇸 English  |  🇪🇸 Spanish  |  🇫🇷 French  |  🇩🇪 German
  • 🇮🇹 Italian  |  🇧🇷 Portuguese
Chinese, Japanese, and Korean are also supported via auto-translation if the finder's browser is set to those languages. More languages are being added regularly.
I travel internationally — is U2ME™ worth it for my luggage?+
U2ME™ was practically made for travelers. Attach codes to your luggage, laptop, camera, passport holder, and anything else you travel with. If a local finds your bag in Paris, Rome, or São Paulo, they can scan your code and reach you — even if they don't speak English. The found page translates instantly. Email notifications reach anywhere in the world. Voice calls reach internationally. It's peace of mind you can pack.
Can my emergency contact be in a different country than me?+
Yes! Each contact can have a phone number from any of our supported countries. For example, you could be in France and have a US-based family member as your emergency contact — the system routes everything automatically. Each phone field in the order form has its own country selector.

Using Your U2ME™ Codes

What items should I put U2ME™ Codes on?+
Anything valuable that could get separated from you. Most popular items:
  • 📱 Smartphones & tablets — use the U2ME Mini, slip it inside your case
  • 💻 Laptops & computers — U2ME Card on the back or bottom
  • 🧳 Luggage & travel bags — inside and outside
  • 🔑 Keys & keychains — U2ME Mini works great
  • 📷 Cameras & equipment
  • 🎒 Backpacks & purses
  • 🎸 Musical instruments & cases
  • 🛴 Bikes, scooters, e-bikes
Where's the best place to put a U2ME™ Code on my phone?+
We recommend placing the U2ME Mini inside your phone case (between the case and the back of the phone) or directly on the back of the case itself. Make sure the QR code stays visible and scannable — the finder needs to be able to point their camera at it easily. For phones without cases, the back lower corner is a natural spot.
What if my QR code gets damaged?+
QR codes are quite resilient and can scan even with minor scratches or scuffs. If your U2ME™ Label or Badge becomes too worn or damaged, contact us at support@getu2me.com to discuss a replacement. This is exactly why we use premium metallic polyester for our Labels and sturdy acrylic for our Badges — durability matters.
